X-Factor star and former I’m a Celeb finalist Jake Quickenden is going on a DECHOX for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and is challenging the nation to join him as he gives up chocolate this March.

The TV-star is fronting the BHF’s DECHOX campaign to help fund lifesaving research and gave a new meaning to hot chocolate as he stripped off for a chocolatey photoshoot for the charity. He is now calling on fellow chocoholics across the UK to ditch the sweet stuff and DECHOX next month.

Money raised through sponsorship will help fund the BHF’s vital research that will help us better understand how to prevent, diagnose and treat heart disease.

Whatever the motivation, DECHOX is the perfect fundraiser for chocolate-obsessed Brits to show their charitable side, get that little bit healthier for 2017 and to put their willpower to the test.

Jake said: “Millions of people across the UK have experienced first-hand the devastating impact of heart disease which can affect anyone, no matter how old you are or how healthy you might be. That’s why I’m supporting the British Heart Foundation’s DECHOX campaign, and getting as many people as possible to ditch chocolate this March.

“I’m a bit of a chocoholic so I know this will be a tough challenge but your support will help fund vital research that could save lives. By signing up to DECHOX, you can help the British Heart Foundation beat heart disease for good.”

In 2016, over 18,000 DECHOXERS took part, raising an incredible £860,000 for the BHF’s ground-breaking research. The charity is now calling on even more of you to get involved this year.

Each year, around 160,000 lives are cut short by heart and circulatory disease – that’s one every three minutes. By joining the thousands of other DECHOX champions you can help keep more hearts beating.

Stand up and say no to chocolate this March and join DECHOX! Sign up now at www.bhf.org.uk/dechox.

British Heart Foundation

For over 50 years we’ve pioneered research that’s transformed the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions. Our work has been central to the discoveries of vital treatments that are changing the fight against heart disease. But so many people still need our help. From babies born with life-threatening heart problems to the many Mums, Dads and Grandparents who survive a heart attack and endure the daily battles of heart failure. Join our fight for every heartbeat in the UK. Every pound raised, minute of your time and donation to our shops will help make a difference to people’s lives

Editor’s Note

My father died suddenly at 50 from a heart attack. A postmortem revealed he had heart disease. I do believe that if we had spotted the warning signs, he may have been saved. This is a cause that is very close to my heart (no pun intended). Please do show your support, and learn more from the British Heart Foundation about your heart.
